Lake of the Ozarks Labor Day Weekend Forecast

If you’re spending your Labor Day weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks, there will be no shortage of warmth and sunshine.

Perfect for renting a boat, exploring a local cave, or barreling down some of the best water slides in the country!

Some tips to keep in mind this weekend:

  • Stay hydrated: With temperatures in the upper 90’s, be sure to have a cooler full of ice and bottled water. The heat can sneak up on you if you’re not careful!
  • Wear Sunscreen: There’s nothing worse than spending your vacation fried from a bad sunburn. Apply sunscreen at least every few hours. Do your best to find some shade every now and then, whether a canopy on a boat or relaxing under some trees.
  • Mix It Up: It’s always nice to balance out your trip: Spent a good amount of time on the lake, enjoying the outdoors, then head indoors for some air conditioning in the evening.

The home is nestled in the trees and yet still takes in the great view of the water and main channel activity – 8 mile marker of the Osage and within the very desirable Buck Creek Cove. This 1,900 sq. ft. vacation rental is available year around. The desirable features include central heating and air conditioning, cable TV, VCR, DVD, phone, ceiling fans, all bedding, dish towels, and an iron. The expansive kitchen is fully equipped and includes a dishwasher, microwave, range, and refrigerator. Other inclusions are weekly trash service, open parking, and access to the laundry room from the kitchen area.

This beautiful property is just 25-30 minutes away from all the Action on the busy side of the Lake – Bagnell Dam, Lake Ozarks, and Osage Beach – via the community bridge. Once you are here plan to take in any number of the Lake’s attractions including state parks, theme parks, cave explorations, golfing, go-karts, theatres, bowling, music, etc.

Queen in the master with flat screen TV. 2nd bd has 1 queen bed and the 3rd bedroom has 1 set of bunk beds and a queen bed. Living room has wood burning fireplace and Satellite TV with HD/VCR/DVD. Kitchen has stainless steel appliances, new ceramic tile, granite counter tops. Washer/dryer, iron/board, and lakeside deck with a gas grill . Home has a covered dock with a swim platform, outside dining, 30′ boat slip, paddle boat and a jet ski lift for your use.

Close to waterfront restaurants, Coconuts, The Jolly Roger, and Bumps Barefoot Bar , are all less than 10 minutes by water. Movie theatres, golf courses, Shopping,go carts, mini golf, caves and state parks will keep you throughly entertained.

Tips for Homeowners: Time for a Kitchen Upgrade?

For  guests who choose to rent a home at the Lake in preference to a hotel or resort, cooking is a big part of their vacation.  They have time to prepare and cook meals for friends and family and that isn’t always the case with conflicting work and school events.   With that consideration, what a kitchen looks like can make a big difference in choosing a vacation rental.

Take a candid look at your kitchen.  Do the cabinets and countertops need a radical change – new paint or perhaps new hardware.  Or is it time for a complete makeover?  Money spent on renovating a kitchen can be recovered in a higher rental rate over a period of a year or so.

Here’s an example of a renovation at Senator’s Retreat completed in 2011.  What a difference!

Remember guests often comment that ah clean, modern kitchen is high on their priority list in picking the ideal vacation rental.  Having said that, it’s not necessary to do a complete kitchen renovation to make a kitchen look great.

Counter tops – Scrubbed clean, most countertops will be OK as long as there are no burn marks, gouges or deep scratches.  And if you don’t have a large are to cover a new countertop can have an immediate impact.  And the cost will be recovered in improved interest, inquiries and reservations.

Appliances –  Check the color and condition of your  appliances.  Nothing dates a kitchen like outdated appliances which results in a negative impact on people searching for that perfect vacation rental property.  Appliances must be in great condition – no rust or baked on grease.  If so these appliances should be replaced

Cabinets – These can often be freshened up with a simple coat of paint.  Whatever option you take, the cabinets should be spotlessly clean inside and out and well organized.

Hardware – It’s amazing what a difference new handles and pulls can make.  If your hardware has seen better days, replacing  these can effectively change the overall look of your kitchen.

Staging – Transform your kitchen into a desirable space by removing the extraneous objects (like magnets, calendars, extra soaps.)  Simply place a bowl of flowers on the counter and you’ll transform a bland or ordinary kitchen into a more desirable place to be.
